Mu Alpha Theta is a National Mathematics Honor Society that was designed to inspire interest in mathematics, develop strong scholarship in the subject, and promote the enjoyment of mathematics in high school and college students.
Meetings will consist of anything from speakers who share their use of mathematics in their profession, to TED talks, or math-related activities. Mandatory meetings are held once a month, on the first Thursday of the month in the FORUM.
Absences from a meeting will need to be made up through 1 hour of community service with a WLHS math teacher. This can be done in the form of tutoring a math student, grading papers, or helping a teacher with anything math related. Make-up forms can be found on the Math Honor Society website and need to be signed by the teacher you assisted. Absences for Semester 1 will need to be made up and turned in by January 25th, 2018. Absences for Semester 2 need to be made up and turned in by May 1st, 2019.
Our induction ceremony is when we officially receive all eligible members into the Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society and seniors to receive their honor cords. Induction will be held on May 21st, 2019 at 7:00 pm in the Auditorium. Attendance is mandatory, parents are invited and business-casual dress is expected.
